The Bikes

Possibly the singe reason for "TheFASTone" coming into being...

Up untill now I've had 2 bikes, the Honda VFR400R(NC30) was my first, (well, technically, thats a lie, I've actually had 3 bikes the first was actually a FZR400, it was rubbish, so I got rid in about 2 months...) anyways, the VFR, she was a darling, I could out-ride most 600 riders that I went out with on her, I would always lag on straight roads (a little), but you expect that, however it was in the twisties that she really held her own... Riding technique comes into it also...

(bearing in mind that I am a B-road king... )

I also Lost my licence once on this bike for doing 110mph... Banned for 50days... SP30... Ooops...

Anyways, heres some pics, click on the thumbnails to view the full size pics...

But unfortunitly, disaster struck, one rainy November night, I was heading back home to Aberdeen, to see Nici, who, I had not long been going out with at the time, heading down the A96 past the Chapel of Gairoch junction, when I saw it, the articulated lorry, pulling slowly up to the junction, I came off the gas and then realised, it was past the line and was still moving, as soon as I realised I touched the brake to slow down that bit quicker, as the situation took a turn. Wet as it was the front wheel locked and in a split second I was on the road tumbling about 30m or so towards the lorry with sparks flying everywhere. I stopped right in the middle of the Junction. The bike went past it. I dont know how, but both me and the bike missed the lorry's trailer. Thankfully. I guess the Bike went under the middle of the trailer and ended on the grass verge, either way, it was fucked. I never knew till after I sold it, but the frame was snapped.

The lorry never stopped.

The other Bike in my life, I still own, A Honda CBR600F-S Rossi, she is one of the offical rossi replica bikes that Honda produced when Rossi won the 500GP Championship on the NSR500, incedentally, the CBR was a completely different bike to the NSR500... Also, a completely different bike to the VFR... I had been staring longingly at the window of Dennis Irvine Superbikes when they were still in Holburn Street (Aberdeen) where she sat for ages, I was (only just) her second owner, the first had her for perhaps a month as I recall... As soon as I got used to her, it was obvious that she was a far more capable bike, and My confidence was growing all the time. It was also on this bike that I achieved my highest speed to date, well on the ground anyways - 155mph. The bike was still pulling - like a train. And needless to say it was me that chickened out...

Although, again, disaster. this actually happened a year before the crash on the VFR, and was a very slow speed accident, which I nearly got out of. there was not a lot of damage, however, since it is a sports bike, "sheilded" in plastic, the repair bill is expensive, and in fact it was in the garage ready to get repaired, but alas, it all went wrong, and its still sitting, in a state of disrepair, waiting for her day to return...

And Finally, here is some more pics of the bikes together, as they were for a while, as I couldn't really bring myself to sell the VFR, it was such a good bike to me, and I'm sure you'll agree, they are a stunning pair...

Enjoy!
