Past Cars

Yes, Its the turn of my previous cars to have their minute of fame...

Please note, that due to having lost some pictures, there are only pics of The Shed™ here so far, and the others will come in time...

Well, starting from the most recent car, we have The Shed™ 1995 Subaru Impreza 1.8GL. She was my first Scoob, and Although she never looked like much, she was a great car to me, for all the miles that I put on by driving up and down from Lossiemouth to Aberdeen, there was rarely a complaint, and of course, so often, it was rarely the direct route home... Gennerally the twistier the road the better...

But it was not all just lonesome driving, it was whilst I had The Shed™ that I joined the SIDC where, not really bothered that It was only a 1.8, or that she never had a turbo, I joined in anyways, and to date, She has been around Alford's "Track" and been to numerous meets around the country, Including a few High Speed affairs... Noteably on a run with the Inverness crowd, she ran right up with the lead car, a good distance from the rest of the pack... Which did cause some to ask questions about what I was actually running under her bonnet... I was very sad the day I had to hand over the keys for the last time to Town and County, when I traded her in for a newer model, the fact that I love my current car, still dont mean that I dont still love this one, she had character...

The Ford Escorts next, one a year older than the other, and both different body styles... Ok, so technically they were not mine, they were my fathers, though I did have them pretty much to myself for a few years. this is for reasons that I will go into later. I spent a lot of time in those cars, up and down Aberdeen to Lossiemouth every weekend, and when I was at home, we spent a lot of time just out and about, in town, out of town and every where in between. Although I was never a b-road nutter back then... That came later... To put further perspective to the Escort days, I attained my Class A motorcycle licence whilst driving these cars, and in later times would spend more time on bikes than cars... I have vowed since then, I will never have another Ford.

Moving back further still, we come to the 1987 Austin Mini, Park Lane, D reg, in case I got the year wrong. My very first car, and, the second car in my life currently, which many people may not know, I do still own this car, although sadly she has not been roadworthy for some years, and has been sitting on axle stands for the best part of 8 years now. Originally, she was bought by my parents (with my money) on my behalf, as I think I was working at the time, and she was great, although, this was to prove a false hope, and as a short time went by it became obvious that perhaps she was not as sound as she initally seemed... so, restoration ensued, and with all best intentions, in time ground to a halt, where she has stood for that length of time, and to be honest, I think I gave up years ago any hope that I would get her back on the road, which does make me very sad, and still to this day If I pick up a copy of Mini Magazine, I still get quite despondant, as I am reminded, that "I have one if those" I Never got my dream of getting her as good as new...

Further to that dissapointment, I am also dissapointed that I never managed to take any pictures of her before we started work. The only pictures I have are years old, and they might as well have been taken last week, nothing has changed since then...

Mebbe one day, I'll get another...
